Where to go and what to get

Just a few days until I go to a meeting of the knitting group. I am nervous that they will not be open to a new person let alone one who doesn’t already knit. Just hoping they are as nice as everyone else I’ve been meeting here.

Before moving, I had two friends each try to teach me to knit on separate (and multiple) occasions. I was using large bamboo needles and burgundy yarn in my attempts but did not have much luck at all. Each of these friends was infinitely patient and knowledgeable so I know it was just that I may not have been in the right frame of mind to learn. And that is very likely considering we would always have ‘lessons’ at lunch when I am very focused on eating. The needles and yarn I had there couldn’t make the trip due to limited luggage space, but the memories came with me.
To be ready for the group, I need to buy needles and yarn. She suggested Vibes & Scribes for the dear and fancier yarns and Cork Wools for all around options. Acrylic or cheap wool yarn was recommended as a good one to learn with and that the label of the yarn package would advice what size needles to use. Evidently there are circular needles, which I suppose are different than the needles I see in Miss Marple movies. I will go over and get yarn in the next few days.
